Treatment

There is no 'cure' for stroke - yet.
You can't have a brain bypass, or restore the 'dead' cells to life.

The treatment for stroke usually consists of:

  • Stabilizing and Assessing the damage, followed by:

  • Drug Therapy to prevent further strokes, and may include ...

  • Physiotherapy to start the process of re-building pathways in the brain

  • Occupational Therapy to help you to do functional things (like making a cuppa).

  • Speech and Language Therapy to help you rebuild your language functions

  • Research Both of Nottingham's hospitals are teaching and 'learning' hospitals and you may be asked
if you would be willing to take part in a Stroke Research Project.
None of the options above would be available without 'research into stroke',
so please think about your answer before you respond!
