Physiotherapy
Once you have been assessed as stable, it's time to get you on the road to recovery.

Your physical condition will be assessed and a programme of physiotherapy devised.

One of the methods your physiotherapist may suggest to get the muscles in your leg to work in the absence of stimulation from your brain is Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) which is a means of producing useful movement in paralysed muscles.
Electrical impulses are applied using either skin surface or implanted electrodes and cause muscles to contract in a controlled manner.
